A year is a long time. It really is.
52 weeks. 365 days. 8,760 hours. 525,600 minutes.
That’s a looooot of minutes, my friends, and I want to implore you to open your heart to the magic of the greatest gift of all – time.
Even if you feel like you’re running in circles right now, doing the same thing, seeing the same people, working the same job and it’s same old same old… I want you to know that a lot can happen in the time you’ve been given to live this year.
That should make you smile and be hopeful – no matter how boring or average you think your life is right now.
A lot can happen in a year. Here are 5 things you can make happen this year.
1. You can find that thing that lights you up.
… a new passion, hobby, creative outlet or interest. You never know where you might find it. You could be watching TV late at night, listening to a random podcast or reading an article online.
Passion has a weird way of showing up in life and it could be right around the corner. Keep your eyes and ears open.
2. You can meet someone who is YOUR person.
…it could be a romantic partner or it could be a platonic soulmate. Get rid of that “no new friends” mentality or thinking you’re too old to make new friends. Bullsh*t!! People come and go in your life spontaneously and randomly. So who’s to say there isn’t an amazing person who might come into your life? A person who becomes your other half?
Keep your heart open to the truth of this possibility and don’t be afraid to make elevator small talk, chat up that person in line at Starbucks, DM that person or utter those 4 potentially life changing words: “Hi! My name is ____.”
3. You can find yourself.
Yes, yourself! Not in a cheesy eat, pray, love kind of way… but you can finally come to understand who you are, what you deserve and the person you want to evolve to be. In my life, I’ve found that personal clarity strikes at odd times.
You can learn a lot about yourself quickly and oftentimes it happens when life is throwing bullsh*t your way. You can learn about yourself through a breakup, a rough patch at work, frustration with family – so keep your head up and know that personal clarity strikes like lightening and it can be life-changing in the most amazing way.
4. You can make more money.
… yes, money. I said it. It’s not taboo. We all want more money and I’ve found that your finances can change quickly for the better. A raise. A new job. A new side hustle. These things are in the cards and it can happen quickly, so don’t count yourself out if you’re not where you want to be financially right now.
It’s not going to be handed to you but keep your head up, keep working and while you do, keep your eyes open for a way to find that next financial step. It’s there.
5. You can be less anxious, worried and stop feeling that you’re falling behind.
… perspective is everything. I think this is THE YEAR to realize that everyone moves at their own pace, what you see is everyone else’s highlight reels (not behind the scenes) and you should be empowered to just live your freakin’ life! No if, ands or buts about it.
You’re not falling behind. You’re doing your thing, you’re heading in the right direction and I think you can come to realize this truth.
A lot can happen in a year. I’m excited… are you?
