Tom Cruise on Burning Bright

With a net worth of $500,000,000, Tom Cruise is third richest actor on the planet behind Jerry Seinfeld and Shahrukh Khan. But he’s also one of the most polarizing figures in show business. A series of PR mishaps in recent times have made it difficult for many fans to separate the Hollywood superstar from the fiercely passionate Scientologist.

But there’s one thing about the enigmatic man that anyone familiar with his work can agree upon: When Cruise is on-screen, he delivers.

“I’m an all-or-nothing kind of person, and when I become interested in something, I give it my all.” – Tom Cruise

In a 1997 interview, renowned director Francis Ford Coppola reflected on recognizing how Cruise’s sense of commitment would amplify his career trajectory. “I really felt this Tom Cruise kid was gonna be incredible,” he said. “I don’t know him now, but he was such a hard-working kid. I mean, he’d do anything for his character and I understand even today when they work on films he’s extremely hard-working.”

To say that Tom Cruise goes the distance is an understatement. Whether he’s jumping on Oprah’s couch or climbing the Burj Khalifa, Cruise never half-asses anything.

“Tom just happens to burn brighter than most, and that’s before you even factor in how talented an actor he is” – Steven Spielberg

His intense commitment to his craft allows him to radiate an energy that’s impossible to ignore. It’s infectious, it’s inspiring.

“Tom spreads a kind of team spirit to everyone involved. I mean, this guy could win NBA championships if he coached any basketball team. He’s a total inspiration, let alone being a great actor.” – Steven Spielberg

If you’re not 100% committed to your endeavours, you’ll find it difficult to make progress. And even if you do, you’ll probably give up anyway. By being committed, you’ll be willing to do whatever it takes to achieve success. You’ll work harder, stay focused and ultimately burn brighter.
